Must be something in the air...
It’s been a busy few days and as much as I’ve had a lovely time with friends and family - Christmas this year has felt different, I’m not entirely sure how or even why but tonight I sat down and felt a urge to paint. So after digging through various places around the house I found some possibly 15 year old Acrylic paints and fought my brush to paper.
It was strangely liberating, freeing even.
I’m in the process of finally getting rid of the awful magnolia that has owned the hallway for far to long in lieu of getting other rooms completed in the house first. Its a slightly odd shape and all of the doors to the other rooms connect into it and it lacks natural light at the far end. I’m going for a 2 tone white effect with Matt to the upper half and ceiling and a silk from approx 5ft down to help bounce some light around and also give some much need protection against any scuffing (check out my previous post on choose the perfect paint here)
I love a new project and before tubs of paint have been brought I’ve already planned out in my head how the room is going to look and feel down to the fine detail. I was after some bright and bold artwork and had my eye on some Frida prints much to my other half’s dismay. After digging out the Acrylic paints and rummaging together a smokey eye brush and a pencil with a rubber on the end as my painting tools (as who needs a proper paint brush anyway?!) I went for it, and I have to say I’m pretty please for someone who’s always been creative but definaly not a painter I just love the colours and the slight emotion in her eyes is perhaps exactly how i’m feeling at the moment without the words to explain it.
Anyway here she is in her bold unapologic beauty.
I’d love to know what you think of her, drop me a comment below.
Also how are you doing in this weird slightly apprehensive period between christmas and new year where your meant to have it all together but are struggling to work out what day of the week it is and how your possible going to fit in to that sparkly number for new years eve after the amount of cheese you have consumed (baked camembert tonights dinner)
I’ll post the hallway transformation as soon as its all done
Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year x
